Our History
Rev. Dr. Ozzie L. Edwards, pastor of the Eliot. Congregational Church of Roxbury, had a dream. In 1993, it came true as the Eliot Educational Center was opened. It grew steadily and has become a beacon of education in Roxbury, MA. Although he passed in 2002, Rev. Edwards' dream lives on!

Our Philosophy
We believe that, given an educational setting in which they feel secure, loved and appreciated, our children can fully develop the talents with which they are naturally endowed. We want every child to gain a strong sense of cultural and self-appreciation. Through this, they will learn to love their neighbors and themselves and will evolve into positive global citizens. We believe that our children will develop their abilities if we give them -A setting where they feel nurtured and taken seriously.

Our Goals and Objectives

We designed our program to reinforce and complement our academic requirements. Our aims are to:

  • Encourage constructive use of leisure time
  • Increase academic aspiration and achievement'
  • Improve cultural awareness and appreciation

If children gain a healthy self-image and enjoy success in school, they are -more likely to grow up to be productive citizens. In the short term, they are less likely to be anti-social.
In the long term, if children have positive feelings about their racial heritage, they are likely to feel better about themselves and to seek out the positive in life, rather than the negative.
