In Memoriam

Remembering Those Who Have Gone Before Us

We gather here in remembrance of the faithful souls who have gone home to the Lord. Though they are no longer with us in body, we trust in God’s promise of eternal life and rejoice in the hope of reunion through Christ.

Each life remembered here is a gift to our church family. We give thanks for the love they shared, the faith they lived, and the ways they strengthened our community. May their memories bless us, and may we continue to walk in the light of the hope they now fully see.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4

Hon. Leslie E. Harris, Ret

We mourn the loss of Judge Leslie E. Harris, our Moderator, once a Deacon always a Deacon, former Chair of the Board of Trustees, and our Church Historian. A proud Roxbury resident, Judge Harris devoted his career and calling to Boston’s young people and to this community. Appointed in 1994 to the Suffolk Juvenile Court, he served the Massachusetts Trial Court with integrity and compassion, after earlier roles with the Roxbury Defenders, the Committee for Public Counsel Services, and as Chief of the Juvenile Division at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. In civic life, he continued to give back as a Dorchester resident serving on the City of Boston’s Human Rights Commission and the Civilian Review Board/Internal Affairs Oversight Panel. In 2024, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office honored his legacy with an award in his name for dedication to youth and juvenile justice. We remember his wisdom, humor, and faithful leadership in our church family, and we pray for comfort for all who loved him.
